A Few Words About Stretching

Good morning everyone;

Today I will talk to you about the science of stretching. Too often it is the part of our training that we tend to neglect, but it is in fact the MOST important.
By stretching regurlarly you are:
Increasing and maintaining tissue elasticity and joints mobility. Life is motion.
Allowing the body's natural lubrication (synovial fluid) to protect your joints.
Preventing injuries .
Increasing your fitness performance.

The following key points should be remembered while stretching:
Always warm up the body prior to stretching, to increase blood flow around the body, which makes the muscles more supple.
Never bounce while you stretch, it is called ballistic stretching and it has the negative effect to create micro tears in the muscles tissue.
Hold the stretch at least one minute until you feel the muscle loosen off.
Stop immediately if you feel any pain.
Remember to breathe rhythmically, do not hold your breath.

Popular Exercise Misconceptions

As you already know, the industry of fitness has based some of its success on myths and false ideas about the body.Plenty of popular exercise misconceptions still exists , even among trainers.
At Zenergie we like to bring you the education you need to differentiate the real info from the "intox" .
Here are few myths we would like to break for you.
1  "No pain, no gain" : This was true in the early 80's , but there are plenty of scientific researches showing that the body doesn't like to sustain pain for too long: Stress fracture- Tendonitis-  connective tissue and joints inflammation are among the long term consequences of excessive stress put on the body.
2 "If You exercise hard enough, You will achieve your fitness goals" . Genetics plays an important role in how people respond to exercise. Your development of strength, speed and endurance may be very different from that of other people you know. Set up realistic goals and, do not compare yourself to someone else, because he/she might not have the same fitness capacity and the same genetic.
3. "Exercise Is the way to lose weight" : Dietary intake and your genetics will trigger your response to exercises. All individuals will not lose the same amount of weight on the same exercise program. Although exercise alone cannot guarantee your ideal weight, regular physical activity is one of the most important factors for successful long-term weight management.
4. "If You want to lose weight, stay away from strength training because you will gain muscle mass":  It is now proven that a combination of cardiovascular exercise and moderate strength training helps decrease body fat percentage and maintain muscle without increasing its mass.

Enjoy the week end everyone.
